From the rural village of Rajasthan to the scintillating set of Coke Studio@MTV in Mumbai, Sawan Khan, one of the singers on Clinton Cerejo’s episode was overwhelmed with the experience of being on a fully fledged music set. Having no experience for live recording he found it difficult to understand the music cues for the song ‘Saathi Salaam’. It took more than 30 re-takes, after which the crew finally decided to take a lunch break and work towards the song.
The menu of the day included Mutton Rogan Ghosh which is Sawan Khan’s favourite dish and after a yummy treat the singer had a spring in his step and determination to nail the song to the best of his musical abilities. The entire crew and the audience were so thrilled, that post the take, everyone gave him a standing ovation.
Sawan Khan will be seen in the premier episode of Coke Studio@MTV in Clinton’s composition of ‘Saathi Salaam’, which is a tribute to man’s biggest ‘Saathi’, his most reliable partner, God and ‘Dungar’ which is a song about the legendary star crossed lovers, Sassi & Punnu. They live in separate villages on two sides of a mountain, i.e. the dungar. In this song, Sassi plans to cross the dungar to go and meet her beloved.

Jake Charky - The Cello Artist Will Be Seen in Clinton Cerejo’s Episode

Fascinated by Indian music and Hindustani ragas Jake Charky, the cello player on Clinton Cerejo’s episode was one of the unique musical artist in this season Coke Studio@MTV.
Jake’s love for India and Hindustani music made him call Chennai his new home. He now lives and travels extensively around the country collaborating with versatile music artist. For Jake Coke Studio@MTV 2 is a new exposure which he was delighted to be part off and wants to continue to be part of such collaborations.
On Coke Studio@MTV in the premier episode, Jake will be seen playing the Cello in Clinton’s composition ‘Mauje Naina’, which is a dark song sung by a man who cheats on his wife and ‘Chaddh De’, an introspective song, Chad De flows like a river. The song is about letting go of desires. It talks about how futile it is to fret over desires or wants when your time on earth is limited.

As the brand new season of Coke Studio@MTV gears up to rock and roll with Clinton Cerejo it’s going to be an exciting start to the musical feast. One of the musicians who were discovered through You Tube, Sawan Khan, a folk artist from Rajasthan caught the eye of Clinton who instantly fell in love with the earthy voice and wanted him to be part of his episode on Coke Studio@MTV.
Sawan Khan lives in a remote village in Rajasthan, called Gajvoaki Basri and hence the team had to travel via flight, bus, car and finally on a camel’s back as it was the only mode to travel to track the talented singer down.
