Among the new plays which are opening soon, is the children's play, IN THE CAT HOUSE, written by Siddharth Kumar and directed by Sananda Mukhopadhyaya. The play opens early next week at Prithvi Theatre. Writer Siddharth Kumar shares with us his Theatre Speak this week. This is the season for children's plays at various venues in the city. Shivani Tanksale and Sumeet Vyas' JUNGLE BOOK, which opened at the NCPA, has been reviewed by Vikram Phukan.
Gujarati play, FAMILY BEMILY BUM BUM, written by Jitu Mehta, and directed by Manoj Shah opens this weekend. Other recent Gujarati plays, which have been updated on our website include Saumya Joshi's new play, JO AME BADHA SAATHE TOH DUNIYA LAIYE MAATHE.
A festival of Marathi plays by the Bodhi Natya Parishad will conclude today at the Ravindra Natya Mandir's mini theatre. Veteran Marathi playwright, Premanand Gajvi is one of the co-founders of the organization. Gajvi's landmark play, GHOTBHAR PAANI, will have crossed 3000 shows in the concluding performance of the festival. The new production of the play has been directed by Milind Inamdar. The festival had also hosted a panel discussion on Marathi Theatre and the 21st century, early this week.
